SAP Showcase Application: Call for Volounteers

Hi Mentors,

SAP looking to create a showcase application for the 2012/13 Champions League. For those not familiar with football (soccer) it is Europes premier club competition that brings the best teams from around Europe together. Last weekend saw Chelsea (England) defeat Bayern Munich (Germany) in this years final.

The application is being focused around Paul the Octopus. Paul was a real live Octopus living in the Sea Life center in Oberhausen. During the 2010 FIFA World Cup he successfully predicted the result of Germanys 7 games and also the final.

We would like to use Predictive Analytics on HANA as the brains of Paul to allow players of the game to compete with Paul and their friends.

The system looks like it will be Netweaver Neo (insert new name here), HANA, BI and mobility. The development has already been opened up to volounteers within SAP, I also got permission to invite Mentors to be involved. This is a chance to work with SAP developers in bringing together a fun and exciting application.

I will schedule a presentation session from the project lead within the next week where he can present his ideas.

This is actually version 2 of the application, version 1 is a much simpler idea and is currently available on the Apple AppStore "Paul Predicts".

Hello John Astill,

There are rumours that Bayern's coach has made use of SAP Hana to assess Barcelona weaknesses. It is not sure if they did it with SAP Hana or other solution. Do you believe applications with in-memory technology could indeed contribute considerably on sports competitions?
