Changing equipment category from M to Q

In IE02, when I try to change the equipment category from M to Q through Edit->Change Category, I get the error message,

"Status profiles ZPM0002 andare different.Changes not possible".Why is it so?

For the equipment category Q no status profile is assigned.

Is there a reason, other than that the current configuration does not allow it, for blocking converting equipment with a M category to Q category?

i think you have activated the status profile for M type category remove the same and then try to change Q.

Als please not you can change the equipment category only when the reference equipment is same

Hi Pallavi,

Purpose and significanse of user status may be completely different in case of equipment type M & Q.Also the change is not allowed, as it would lead to a different processing flow in the master record.This is the reason system blocks from converting equipment with a M category to Q category.

I would suggest you to go for creation of a new equipment with correct equipment category and set deletion flag for the old equipment.
