characteristic of char data type unable load special language

Dear Experts

A DTP load from DSO to cube failed.

The cause is a record having a field of char data type and the BI system flags the field of the incoming record from R/3  has an invalid characters although the infoobject is of data type char and the field length is sufficient.

In R/3 the document the field is showing as a foreign language. But in BI, the system detects this as invalid chars . The error message :

Diagnosis

Only the following standard characters are valid in characteristic
    values by default:

    !"%&''()*+,-./:;<=>?_0123456789ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ.

Furthermore, characteristic values that only consist of the character #
or that begin with ! are not valid.

You are trying to load the invalid characteristic value 12345 ¼±¼ö±Ý &
    (hexidecimal representation 31323035313420BCB1BCF6B1DD ).

System Response

Please kindly advise how to address this.

1. Is there a feature in BI to set to allow this?

BI supports foreign languages other than english. So, with respect to this, how can this loading issue be addressed? Any setting in the infoobject?

2. Is there a way to ignore the error and continue to load as-is?

3.  I am thinking of asking the user to do a reversal and repost the document with alphanumeric characters. Is this advisable?

Please advise. Thanks very much.

regards

Bass

Hi,

As a workaround, check in SM59 in your system for the source system,

Under Special Options ® Character Conversion. Normally Ignore Errors is the default and will be set.

But check what is it in your case. This may not be a solution but can give it a try !!

Hi,

To support multiple language you should have unicode system in the BW..

so check in RSCPINST transaction and see how many languages are installed..

if any langauge needs to be installed check with basis team..

also for asian language like chinese, japanese there will be some spacial settings..

without correct language setting you can not load the data correctly in sap bw system..

check following threads

http://scn.sap.com/thread/2113741

http://scn.sap.com/thread/74895

http://scn.sap.com/thread/1896978

if you can not install the language set u need to askj business to maintain the text, descriptions etc

in english only...

I don't think u can just ignore and load the data it will still create issue ,you can put space by writing ABAP but it will be huge development...so do not try this...

Thanks and regards

Dear Kiran

Yes, I set to ignore error in error handling and although the loading was successfully completed, zero record was updated and in the monitor, I can see that while its green status, there is still the same message of invalid characters.

I am trying to ask the user to allow me to remove the space character in between the string of this field value.

Cheers.

I guess this is due to diff. in languages available R/3 and BI.

Please check this -
