Solution Manager 7.1 with Web Dispatcher

Our SolMan system was overloaded so I had to add an additional dialog instance. I remembered that I saw something in SOLMAN_SETUP about a Web Dispatcher so I went back. In SOLMAN_SETUP Step 5.1 Configure Web Dispatcher it says:

“In case Solution Manager has one or several Dialog Instances it is required to have a Solution Manager associated Web Dispatcher. In this situation the information maintained below is used to configure the Solution Manager internal Web Service calls performed between Solution Manager ABAP and Java stack and from Diagnostics Agents to Solution Manager ABAP stack.

In this context note that when a Web Dispatcher is required / used, the following documented recommendations and additional configurations have to be also considered:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp2/helpdata/en/48/6a82a684f4350ce10000000a42189d/frameset.htm

This link has many pages of settings and parameters and things you can do with WD but I don’t know what is required in the case of just trying to make SolMan work. I have installed the WD but don't know what settings to put in it and in SolMan.

I found note 1659135 “Web service invocation problem on the Solman 7.1” but that doesn’t work either ( The ping fails but no documentation on how to fix it).

Has anybody successfully configured SolMan 7.1 with Web Dispatcher? Thank you all,

David

Hi

you need to do the regular web dispatcher setting afte r installation of web dispatcher.

Later in 5.1 give the web dispatcher url, if you dont have web dispatcher you can give message server host name and port

Thanks,

I am able to get the web services to ping by installing a Web Dispatcher and putting the message server host and port of the Solution Manager system into the instance profile of the Web Dispatcher. Then I adding a DNS entry for sm.prod.mycompany.com that points to the IP of the Web Dispatcher.

Now I am able to access Solution Manager ABAP and Java through the Web Dispatcher with sm.prod.mycompany.com. I put sm.prod.mycompany.com and port 80 in 5.1.

Is this what you mean by the regular settings? I’m not sure what SAP means in the documentation for the SOLMAN_SETUP step 5.1 “In this context note that when a Web Dispatcher is required / used, the following documented recommendations and additional configurations have to be also considered:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp2/helpdata/en/48/6a82a684f4350ce10000000a42189d/frameset.htm” Is there anything in there I actually have to do or is this just informational pointing to the dozens of possible permutations you can do if you were inclined to? Thanks again,

David
