SRM Organization structure roles

Hello Guys

Could any one of you tell me what exactly is the significance of user role in organization structure.

Once the user is created in Portal and GUI Server, Strategic or  operational roles are assigned. And some more attributes are assigned for them to shop.

But in org structure, i could see attribute USER ROLE, what is the significance of it, is it mandatory or optional. Please let me know.

Second, as a consultant may i know what roles is needed to work in EP and SRM Server.

Please let me know at the earliest

Hello,

You can have a look at attached file available in note 1261825.

It has all relevant portal as well as SAP_GUI roles relevant for SRM.
