Storage Lcation not Proposed in Delivery

Hi Experts,

I am experienced SAP SD consultant but to my great surprise I amhaving problem that while creating outbound delivery of sales order, Storage Location is not determined. Header data of delivery says Not relevant for No WM transfer Order required.

If manually I enter Storage Location it says WM TO required. Pl note that I have maintained/checked thoroughly

1)  WM sto Location plant and shipping points are assigned well

2)  In MM02 Storage Location is maintained

3)  Automatic Picking Location OVL3 is maintained

4) Rule for Picking Location is determined MALA

5) Delivery Item Category TAN Check Box marked for Determine Storage Location

6)  SL MRP per Plant maintained

7) Stor Location Specific Shipping point determination maintained as

   SC 02/Loading Grp 00/plant 2020/stor Loca 0001 There is no other storage location maintained for plant 2020 In MM02 Loading Grp is maintained as 2=Forklift

Shipping condition is maintained in customer master as 02= standard Delivering plant is maintained in MM02 only

However, same way we have another plant but it is determining storage location and this does not.

Still what I am missing? Please advise for solution with correct steps. I shall appreciate for early response.

Did you check the storage condition in the material master ->Plant data/Storage 1 view? You need to maintain the data for the system to pull the storage location details. Check in transaction code 0VLP, for delivery item category, the field relevant for picking is checked or not. If not, you need to check this field.

Hey Shiva Ram,

Thanks for the tips. When I checked MM02 Plant data/Storage View, some one had marked shipping condition as 1

I have removed it and now warehouse is automatically determined in delivery.

For storage location determination, the master data should match data in OVL3, to get storage location automatically in the delivery.

I have removed it and now warehouse is automatically determined in delivery.

From your above sentence do you mean storage location & not warehouse?

Note: in delivery item category 0VLP, field "determine item category" should be activated.

field "Relevant for Picking" is not related to storage location determination.

This should be written as below -

Shipping condition is maintained in customer master as 02= standard.

Delivering plant is maintained in MM02 only.

Delivering plant could be maintained in customer-master info record &/or customer master record &/or material master record. In this case the delivering plant is maintained only in the MMR (material master record).

Note: Shipping condition does not play a role in determination of the delivering plant. It plays a role in the determination of shipping point (& route).

     In this step, you define the default values for sto
     (multi-plant).

     The indicator that you set here is proposed when cr
     master record for the storage locations maintained

     For this purpose, the storage locations that are to
     value for the storage location MRP, are provided wi
     indicator:

     o   plan storage location separately

     o   exclude storage location from MRP

2)  Plant is determined first from Customer-material Info then from customer master and then from plant.

I have maintained at material level only.

Hi TW,

Let me clarify what was exact problem.

In material master Palnt data/storage location there is a tab SC This means Storage Condition which some one from our team had added as 01

Now due to storage condition data in material master it was not determining Storage Location as we had not maitained Storage condition in Picking Determination

Shipping point/Plant/Storage condition/Storage Location Tcode is OVL3

So if you put Storage Condition in material master you have to also add storage condition in Tcode OVL3 which we had not done.

1) Please investigate why storage condition 01 was given in MMR.

2) There could be some disadvantages of not using storage condition, in the determination of shipping conditions. E.g.

In your plant there are computers and milk products.

Computers can be kept under environment temperature (st cond = CO), picking location = ZCOM, but for milk products refregiration is needed (st cond = MI) picking location ZMIK.

You do not use st condition in OVL3. Thus for your plant, shipping point, storage location is given ZCOM.

Now when you create a delivery for Milk products, system automatically determines location ZCOM which is incorrect

But by using storage condition in OVL3,

- when you create a delivery for Computers, system automatically determines location ZCOM

- when you create a delivery for Milk products, system automatically determines location ZMIK

Hi TW,

Our product is normal chemicals which do not require special storage condition.

You can still determine Storage Location in OVL3 by having storage constiton blank. Just check on your sysytem. Its not mandatory to have storage condition for certain product as per business scenerio. Hope you will agree with this now.

If field "Storage condition" is blank, OVL3 works fine.

If the storage condition is the same for all material in your plant (business), then it doesnot make sense to given storage condition; it would only be extra work (i.e. extra data entry)

Hi TW,

You can have both cases in OVL3 means

1) Shipping Point/Plant/Sotrage Condition/Storage Location data

e.g. 3000/3000/01/0001

2) Secondly also you can have no storage condition defined e.g.

3000/3000/Blamk/0001

So if your MM02 is not having Storage Condition it will find Storage Location in delivery.

If you put Stor Condition in MM02 then also it will work. This point is to be noted.

Hi Tw,

Yes you are right. For perishable food products, pharma products, high temperature sensitive material storage condition is required. So accordingly it will find storage location while creating outbound delivery.
