Urgent! Mistake during Update with SDBINST/SDBSETUP

Hello MaxDB Users,

i have a very urgent problem with an upgrade of MaxDB 7.9.0.7.14 (with SAP ERP 6.0, Linux Sles 11). I've made a very stupid mistake. When updating MaxDB i didn't use the SDBSETUP file but SDBINST.

Because the SDBINST program wants it, i killed the dbmrfc process.

Now i can't start or stop the database. dbmrfc and dbmcli do not work

dbmrfc:

Could not open the ICU common library.

The following files must be in the path described by

   the environment variable "LD_LIBRARY_PATH":

   libicuuc.so.34, libicudata.so.34, libicui18n.so.34 [nlsui0.c 1597] pid = 6338

LD_LIBRARY_PATH is currently set to <not set>  [nlsui0.c 1600] pid = 6338

dbmcli:

Error! Connection failed to node (local) for database (no dbname):

     database instance not found

In TA: When i enter TA DB13 i get this error:

Name und Server     : GI6 - sapides6

DBMRFC Funktion     : DBM_CONNECT

Fehler              : Fehler des DBM

Rückgabewert        :         -4

Fehlermeldung       : executable program not accessible

Besides there is a second database in DB13  with name LCA an database host: id3tdc00

The normal database ist: name: GI6  host: sapides 6

I don't know what to do. Have anyone of you an idea what i can do?

Hello Simon,

1. I recommend to create the high SAP message to BC-DB-SDB component and get SAP support.

In SAP message you could write that the case is urgent.

And forum is not for urgent cases.

2.  From the posted information you had to check on appl. server the env settings for <appl_sid>adm user. There is SAP note on the the env settings files to download.

From posted information is not clear what MAXDB software packages you had instaled before you started the upgrade & what MAXDB software installed packages you have now.

I want to delete the second database but i can find no way to do it. The maxdb installation tool SDBSETUP should have a poin "remove database". But this point isn't in there. (7.9)

In Version 7.6 the point is available but i don't know what to delete?

The system is fortunately not our productive system but pur developer system. And every day we're developing new code. If it takes to long the data loss ist to big i case i have to delete an reinstall the database.

Hi Simon,

considering the fact the the system is not productive (what SAP knows too), I would propose to reinstall if that's an option for you.

Actually it may be possible to reproduce this issue on another sandbox machine, just to have the possibility to play around a little bit.

Peter
