Batch pick logic

Hello Gurus,

I would like to know the logic by SAP while picking up the batch after delivery is created?

I understand that SAP pick up the batches which happen to be in process of FIFO (FIRST IN FIRST OUT). However the logic of FIRST IN FIRST OUT is subject to what?

Is it the goods receipt date? OR is it with the batch expiry date? (Early expiry batch has to be picked up by SAP first)

Please put some light to get the basics clear.

as far as i know

it is confugarable in SPRO against the Item Category (the checkbox "Auto batch determin)"
