storage resource capacity consumption and GI date

Hi,

We are using standard planning book for managing storage capacity. The product master has GI time of 10 days and we expected the storage capacity consumption at sending location at the end of GI date, but what we see is the storage resourcecapacity consumption at the start of GI.

Is this behavior SAP APO standard and is there a way to manipulate the capacity consumption at the end of GI date/time.

Thanks.

Sandeep

Hi,

SNP heuristics use GI/GR process times for scheduling while generating the proposals.

  • If the stock on hand level < target stock level, the planning engine generate a proposal to fill the stock up to target stock level
  • Based on the period factor, the due date will be calculated. Then, proposal start date will be calculated by backward scheduling considering receiving calendar and GR process time, transportation calendar and transport duration, shipping calendar and GI process time, etc.
  • If the order start date falls in past, forward scheduling will be used.

Then, storage capacity consumption is a calculated quantity (based on the macro 'Stock Balance'). For a given time period (bucket),

Projected stock = Projected stock of previous time period + Total Receipts - Total Demands

The stock derived based on the above formula drives the storage resource capacity requirements.

GI process time or Storage capacity requirements are not directly influence each other. The SNP planning engine use them in the process flow.

I hope this explanation does not confuse you further .

Thanks,

Hi Rajesh,

Thanks for your response. I understand all that but the question was around the influence of GI time and Storage consumption. Apparantely there is no influence.

Thanks.
