Dear Experts,

We installed MAXDB for content server databse and installed DBManager to administrate MAXDB, where we are unable to configure with DB.

when i provide IP address and port number, DB name to search it says:

-4 Xserver might be inactive.

my sytem xserver is active.

how can i trace this error.

also please suggest me another tool for the same.

Hello Siva,

Did you install MAXDB database and DBMGUI on the same server?

If not => Could you ping to the MAXDB server from the server where you installed DBMGUI?

What is the version of the MAXDB database and DBMGUI?

Try the following

1) Dont give the port number , just enter the IP address. If your xserver is really active it should show the running databases on the server.

2) if you continue to get the error go to /sapdb/programs/bin ( for Unix ) and try to start the xserver

x_server stop

x_server start

3) if this does not help then there is another software called as database studio which is similar to db manager but much better. Make sure you download the right version according to your database.

for windows also, i have faced same issue, i went to same path <drive>:\sapdb\programs\bin and run both the executable files, then in Database studio your DB will reflect and you can connect to it.
