We use standard ATP functionality and in this example would only have stock/supply for partial commit.
Only way seems to be for the user to come in and split the line into multiple lines - seems like a very manual solution for something our business uses as a standard business practice.

OVZJ > select the appropriate sales areas, and set the Avail Check Rule to 'E'. During ATP check, if there is a shortage, the sales order item will automatically be split into 2 or more schedules. Then, depending upon the scope of check you have configured, if the order item cannot be fully confirmed, the system will create and confirm as many order item schedules as it can, and then leave one remaining order item schedule either partially confirmed or completely unconfirmed.
