Dear Gurus,
Could you please let me know the purpose of PGI in SD?
From the wiki, I came to know when PGI is done, the ownership of the material will be changed from company to customer and 2 Documents (Material and Accounting) will be generated.
Any thing extra i need to know here?
My question is what is the purpose of PGI when compared with Goods Issue? (Want to know difference between Goods Issue and PGI)
What is the specality of PGI? why we need PGI, instead we can simply issue goods after sales order
Regards,
Sridhar.
HI !
PGI stands for Post goods Issue
and there are some activites will happen after the PGI of the delivery document of the sales order. Which is required for business. there are
1:- Reduce warehouse stock & update inventory management.
2:- Post the value chage to the stock accounts in inventory account.
3:- Reduce delivery requirement
4:- Update document flow and status of preceding document.
5:- Create work list for billing due list.
Hope it ll help you to understand the requirement of PGI in sap .
Regards
Pitabash

Want to know difference between Goods Issue and PGI
Both are same. Full form of PGI is nothing but Post Goods Issue.

Dear Sourav,
Will the 2 changes you mentioned
1.Value of inventory stock reduced.
2.Value of goods sold increased.
won't occur even after the Goods Issue also. If not then what are the accounting entries for goods issue or what entries will impact for goods issue?
Then what is the significance of PGI? Further I came t know, there are many tcodes for PGI some things for background.(I read info..but confusing)
Could you please let me know..why so much tcodes..?
Regards,
Sridhar.

Hi Sridhar,
As per my knowledge Post goods issue and Goods issue both are same.
When ever we do PGI in the VLO1N T-code system stock will get reduced and it will be lying in the sale order level.( Availability check & Transfer of requirements to the inventory management will be carried out in this level)
More over as per your question , Why we need PGI?
In SAP SD PGI is used to reduced the stock from a respective storage location.

Hi Sridhar,
Significance of PGI:
1.Value of inventory stock reduced.
2.Value of goods sold increased.
PGI is related to shipping activities after delivery.
After PGI ownership of the goods will be transfered from the company to the customer who has ordered the goods.PGI should do when goods physically leaves the company location.
