Good morning all,
I'm working on an installation of SAP businessObjects Edge BI 4.0 in a production system. There is the need to upgrade the current patch level to 15 and for doing so it is necessary also to install Service Pack 2. There is only one system (the production one), there isn't availability of other environments (dev/qas).
My question is: there are some best practices to lead this activity (es: it is enough to take a snapshot of the machine for eventually roll-back in case of problems?). And in a well-done architecture, the presence of at least 2/3 environments (DEV-QAS-PROD) is mandatory? In each case, I think for these kind of activities, the installation should apply separately on each environment.
Thanks all for your support!
If you work with VMware Snapshots, read http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1025279. And I won't recommend online snapshots on a system with live data like databases.
