Planning against Sales order

Hi,

We are planning based on requested delivery date and requested quantity which is a default configuration. The requirement date in this case is taken as material availability date (MAD).

We want to plan based on MAD corresponding to confirmation date for confirmed quantity.

Queries

1. Does SNP optimizer support it ?

2. In the configuration setting for category group, there are 2 groups. One is C01 (Customer Demand) in which category BM (sales order) is available. The other one is C12 (Schedule Lines) in which category BE (SchLne) is available.

Do we need to set quantity type as 03 (Confirmed Quantity) at both places ? I would like to know if this is the setting to be done in order to plan based on confirmed quantity or there are additional setting for the same.

3. What is the business rationale behind planning on requested quantity or on confirmed quantity ? any specific reasons ?

Regards,

RS

Hi RS,

SNP is responsible for entire supply network planning at strategic and tactical levels of operations management. But, your requirement to consider confirmed quantity and MAD is of order execution nature and can be met with other tools like GATP.

SNP Optimizer considers all the planning relevant parameters while generating the proposals so as to meet the requirements (i.e. backward scheduling from required delivery date). More over, it is advantageous to plan for the requested quantity (quantity type 01) of sales orders rather than confirmed so as to improve service levels and aim for better fill rates.

Your business requirements needs to be revalidated from functional perspective before checking the technical viability.

Thanks,
Rajesh
