Hey everyone.
I have been working as a SAP business one consultant for around 2 yrs and i think that's enough for the software.
I observed in this time my interest in accounting, so as to take my interest further i planned to go for masters with major in SAP accounting, i did some search and found that almost all UA universities teach TERP10 which is very basic to me as i am already a certified, and it involve just the basic overview of business process of SAP which i think wouldn't of much help to me.
Please suggest universities preferably in Canada which offer masters in SAP accounting, means in depth training of accounting.
I hope there are plenty out there like me looking for discussion like this, let's give it a great start.
Regards
Varun
Hi Varun
I know you mentioned Canada. There are two universities in Australia which have a specialization in Accounting and SAP. That is University of Technology Sydney and Victoria University. Both universities offer SAP Consultant Certification in FI/CO.

Hello,
Thanks Paul for taking out time for my query.
Need one advise, would you suggest core accounting master degree at UA member university or an SAP master program like in Victoria and why, i know it sounds like an interview question but i am kind of stuck in between these options.

Hi
It depends on what you are after. Many of our students already have a professional background such as accounting and then want to learn how to apply this knowledge with SAP solutions. Other courses teach a discipline and then include a subject containing SAP and expect the student to draw the parallels. I am not saying which one is more suitable as it depends on the students needs and expectations.
Victoria University offers a combined masters in professional accounting and ERP systems. Students often ask whether they should do the masters in ERP systems or one of the combined masters. Again it depends on their expectations. Each course has their strength and weaknesses.
I don't know whether this has helped at all.

Hey,
If a person is entitled for MBA in ERP at Victoria, would he be able to opt more of finance subjects from other majors finance courses, as my focus is to specialize in SAP finance.
Believe me this conversation is really helping me in a way and i wanna thank you all for this, thing is that i am bit confused as there are plenty of options out there.

Hey David,
These days i am also looking for an program like one. could you be bit more specific about your goal, weather you're looking for a degree what SAP UA universities offers, or a pure SAP base program like Victoria university is offering.
In the first case you could choose modules of your choice relevant to the degree(Best relevant degree is INFORMATION SYSTEMS) you opted i guess, rest experts like Richard Blumberg and Paul hawking can give you better idea on SAP UA policy, and the list of SAP UA universities can be found at the link: http://uaaroundtheworld.informatik.tu-muenchen.de/overview(bD1lbiZjPTEwMQ==)/start.htm
If Second is the case, only Australian Victoria university has to offer masters in SAP with major in accounting also. No canadian or USAian university has such offer if had it been there i would have already joined that.
Don't forget to reward contributors with points, if helpful.
Best Regards

Varun,
Hi! Nice to hear that you are building upon your SAP Business One work experiences to further go into SAP Accounting. There are a number of Canadian universities to assess by going to UA Around the World: http://uaaroundtheworld.informatik.tu-muenchen.de/overview(bD1lbiZjPTEwMQ==)/start.htm
Ask the professors for the best approach. Note they may not have a pure SAP only masters program but can advise you the best way to approach your training.
Best regards,
Richard

Thanks Richard,
I appreciate you interest, i have already looked at the universities in the report, most of them just have certification courses not full time degree sort of program. Can you name some uni where i can find an decent SAP accounting degree program, country is no bar (for a desired course i can move anywhere, i heard Victoria uni in Australia has some decent program on this what do you have to say about the Victoria) but preference is always Canada. .
So you want me to approach each university SAP professor.
Can they be found on this SAP university alliance site, if yes, can you name some who can guide me through. i really have to take decision and short list universities by this year so that i can go ahead with admission procedure.
Regards
Varun
Hello Varun,
In North America, there are no "masters with major in SAP accounting". The SAP University Alliances program is geared toward supporting education rather than training. My recommendation would be to find an accounting master's program that you like at a University Alliances member school. Degrees are typically awarded by discipline, i.e. Accounting, Marketing, Management, Information Systems. There are no schools providing a degree in SAP.
If you'd like to discuss this further, please contact me at alex.mcleod01@sap.com
Regards,
Alex
