How do I determine if my system is unicode or non-unicode?

Login into ABAP stack and then System --> Status. There it will show you.

.. and if you got a running XI, it is unicode, because XI runs only on unicode!

on ABAP Stack (SAPGUI) > Menu > System > Status
Have a closer look at the popup (I guess it is in the left lower corner)
