TempDB too large and full

Hi

I have my production box running on Windows 2003 R2 with SQL 2005.

My temp db has grown to 120 GB and there is no more space in drive to grow it further.

I cannot restart or shrink the SQL.

I do not see any long running jobs currently.

What can be done to release the space.

Please update

Thanks and Regards

Tushar

There is something which uses all that space.

It's not necessarily a long running job.

What kind of SAP system are you talking about?  ECC/BW/SCM/...?

Hi

I cannot find any long running job on the system

It is a BI 7.0 system.

Thanks and Regards

As I said: it's not necessarily a long running job.

Check with the BW guys/girls if anyone is filling large aggregates.

This uses tempdb heavily.

And if they are filling them in parallel, your tempdb can grow very fast!

Is there any way we can clear the tempdb ??

without restarting SQL??

Thanks and Best Regards

you can't clear it without stopping the jobs.  BW will only clear it when the aggregate jobs are done.

This might help you:
