Data File !

Hi,

I have a scenario File to Idoc.  The file has 256 columns coming from Vendor.  The Idoc will be mapped only with 15 fields.

Those 15 fields are not continuous and are spread across the 256 columns.

Is it mandatory that I need to create all those 256 columns?  Will the File sender able to recogzine the fields that i need.

Unfortunately, it  is a pipe delimited file and does not have any column name information.  All is detail level fields only.#

Please advise the same,.

Regards

Anandh

Hi,

As far as I know, you don't have to build the source Message Type in ESR for all these 256 fields - only add ones that you need for further processing, the rest will simply be ignored by PI (just do not enable sender XML validation). Still, unfortunately you will have to define the field names for all the fields in FCC. My only advice here is: use f1, f2, f3, someImportantField, f4,... for them, so that only your required fields had a meaningful name, and others had some name like f1 and so on.

Hope this helps,

Greg

Hi Anadh,

Its better to create FCC for all fields and ignore the fields in PI Mapping level.
