Dear experts,
I am currently mapping my clients data requirements on SAP PPM 5.0. As it seems my client has quite some special data requests: Can anyone tell me how many non-standard (custom) fields PPM 5.0 offers? And are there any data type limitations on these fields?
Thanks for your assistance!
Best regards,
Wilco
Hi Wilco,
You can include substantial number of custom fields for item by extending the structure CI_RPM_ITEM_ATT for table /rpm/item_d.
You can use any data type as per your requirement for the custom fields.
Once the structure is added, the configuration is required to make those fields appear in front-end.
Cheers
Amit

Hi Amit,
Thanks for your quick response. Could you please define "substantial number" for me to understand the magnitude? 10 fields or 1000?
Furthermore, in case of your solution; Where would the amended fields appear? On the Overview / General Information screen, an existing other screen, or on a newly defined screen?
Cheers,
Wilco
Hello Wilco,
Please bear in mind that the number of custom fields you add will have an adverse implication on the performance.
In my previous conversations with SAP performance should be acceptable with up to 20 fields and you can stretch to 40 if required (over all including different screens, objects (initiative, item, review) dash boards). Now having said that it really depends from scenario to scenario w.r.t performance because you can add custom fields to different screens that may be called frequently, or refreshed frequently, dashboards that are called for initiatives, items etc.
I recommend using standard fields as much as possible.
Hope this helps.
regards,
NK
