Hi Chin ,

you must have seen when in CU41 we create configuration profile , in first screen , we only give number, name of profile and class type.

but the other atribute we set by selecting this line and clicking profile on header tab.

so if you want your configuration profile to have different attribute while exploding in sales order and order BOM differently , it can be done by using multiple profiles.

another example is , you have configurable material PC which also have a configurable assembly Monitor inside it , so here you can set 2 configuration profile for PC in one you can select only single level BOM explosion and in another multilevel explosion.

Also keep in mind the profile with the lowest number has the highest priority.

The priority is also relevant if you use Application Link Enabling (ALE) or intermediate documents (IDocs) to run configuration, rather than dialog mode. In this case, the profile with the highest priority is selected for the object.

Profiles that have no priority are at the top of the list, because they automatically have priority 0.

Hope this explanation will help you.

Thanks

Ritesh

Hello Chin,

Configuration profiles are different behaviour for material. Eg if you are producing a material it is better to use PLND.PROD ..if you use the bom in engineering you can use order bom. You can have different profile for the same material and then when you create an order in VA01 , all the active profiles will be displayed, you can the select the profile you want to choose.
