Predefined UI layouts with several "views" are referred to as perspectives. One or several perspectives address the needs of a particular SAP HANA user role. For example, a system administrator may use the SAP HANA Administration Console perspective.

You can move each view using drag and drop option. You can also customize a perspective by adding or removing views. Perspectives available in the SAP HANA Studio include SAP HANA Modeler, Administration Console, Resources, and other perspectives.

perspective are nothing but the collection of views. important because we can implement selected tools that can be used to build applications

customize perspective - we can change the toolbar view and if we want to add some views we can add to the interface by selecting the necessary options. if the elements are grey then they are not available.

save Perspective - if we want to save the used selected perspective, can be saved by clicking this option.

Reset Perspective - the total changes that are made has to be undone to its intial state then we use the reset perspective which will go to the default state.

Hi Raj,

From my understanding Perspective is basically an View. The functionalities we can see/use in the studio are dependent upon the Perspective we choose.

Ex: You can have the Quick launch functionality in studio visible to you only when your in Modeler Perspective.

Hi,

a small amendment to what the other colleagues said: Perspectives are part of the Eclipse GUI stack. It's not something restricted to HANA Studio. Every Eclipse-based tool (such as HANA Studio) will have that feature.

And, as other collegues already mentioned, these are just views that can be customized according to your user needs.

For instance you can remove "Where-Used List" internal window from the Modeler Perspective. This will be saved as a preference of that particular Perspective for your user.

Whenever you want to reset a perspective (in case you remove a given window by accident) you can run menu "Window -> Reset Perspective..." .

I hope that helps

Raj:

In simpe words, treat perspective as context of current activity for developer.

For example: there is an admin perspective and modelling perspective. If you want to do any modelling activity you would switch your HANA studio to modelling perspective to use all modelling icons and menu options related to modelling...if you want to administer HANA you will switch to admin perspective...hope this helps..

Perspectives are the collection of "screen elements" which are designed specific to an "USER" so that all the screens which are required for his daily actions are kept for example roles like "modeller" or "admin".

You can always customize the screens and give your custom names.
