E2E ananlysis for TREX system

Hi Everyone,

i am planning to install SMD agent in my TREX system for E2E analysis.

please let me know which version i can use? please refer the correct location in service market place. because i tried installing 7.2 and 7.3 in the managed system, the initial sapinst screen itself takes long time and gets stuck it seem, giving the info "updating DLL".

i ran solman_workcenter and selected agent administration to check the current version of the agents which are already running.(see below)

"Diagnostics agent version :7.01.7.3.20110311130810"

in my case, is it 7.3/7.1 ?

also i have a doubt in identifying the SP level of my Solution manager EPH1.when i checked the ST component in ABAP it shows release 400 and level 24. but when i run Solman_workcenter, it shows EHP 1 SP6. which one i should consider?

i really appreciate your immediate response as i am working on the production environment.

1.How exactly to check the Version of SMD agent which is already running ( i tried running a command "%ProgramFiles%"\SAP\hostctrl\exe\saphostctrl -function ExecuteOperation -name version info" but ended up giving error )

2.How to check the SP level of Solman

3. what all i need to download for SMD agent installation.

ans 1 ) Please use the below wiki, and match your solman vesion and get to know abt your diag agent version

Normally in 7.01 Version diag agent file system like USR\SAP\SMD\JXX

but in 7.11\7.20 or higher it is like USR\SAP\DAA\SMDAXX

ans 2) Solution manager SP18 onwards it called as EHP1

so if you have STlevel 24 means it is considered as EHP1 SP6. thats what your workcenter is saying

Now solution manager 7.1 SP04 considered as Solution manager 7.1 SR1

ans 3) get the patches at http://service.sap.com/swdc,

Go to: "Support Packages and Patches" -> "Browse our Download Catalog" -> "SAP Technology Components" -> "SAP SOLUTION MANAGER" -> "SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 7.0 EHP 1" ->"Entry by Component" -> "Agents for managed systems"

It was really helpful identifying and understanding the patch level.

i downloaded smd agent 7.2(as my solman is EHP1 SP6) for my Trex system and ran sapinst.

but it got stuck in the initiall screen itself, giving the message" updating system DLLs"

here is the event log from OS level:

do we need to install JDK / JVM prior to SMD Installation??

what i know is SMD 720 installs JVM 6.

this isue has been resolved by installing VC++ 2005 redistribution DLLs
