Hi Guys

Can you tell me if ERM can upload 26K roles from an Excell Spreadsheet?

If so how?

Hi Mark,

Definitely not at one go, you need to break it into small files and do it. If you run big files, it will time out.

Are you implementing ERM in 5.3?

This is what I thought. From my experience you can only upload a maximum of 2000 at a time is this correct?

Yes we are implementing ERM in 5.3

The 2nd part of my question is HOW do we do it?

Hi Mark,

You can run more roles also if its going through. Sometimes job may time out or error out after long wait if the file size is big. Number of roles depends on how big the roles are too. You can try giving 1000 and see if it works, if they are going through with out any problem you can increase the number.

24K is a big number(Do not import SAP* roles unless you are using them to provision end users). Looking at the number of roles they may all be small I guess.Hope Sizing has been done taking this into consideration.

Try to include master and child roles in the same export file.

Procedure from AC 5.3 official Config Guide:

You use the Mass Role Import feature to import the roles from the back-end system into the ERM

repository.

1. Execute the VIRSA/RE_DNLDROLES program. The following files are downloaded in Excel

format:

Authorization Data

Role information

Primary Org Level

2. In ERM, select the Configuration tab. In the left navigation pane, select Mass Role Import. The

Mass Role Import screen appears.

3. Select and choose the following parameters:

Source connectors

System type

System landscape

Import source

Bulk download file

Click Browse and select the Excel data files created above.

Overwrite role if exists

4. Click Continue to import the roles and data.

Thank you for this good answer.

Just to clarify they will be single roles.

I am not sure how big they will be as they will be created by a 3rd party outside my scope.

There will be no SAP* roles.

Where do you run VIRSA/RE_DNLDROLES program?? is this in the backend??

Hi Mark,

Yes you run the it (you can run it as a T-code or program) in the backend SAP System, where RTAs are installed.
