Standby database on iseries

What are the options available for setting up a standby database in iseries.

I do understand that there are third party tools like MMIX which does the job.

Is there any native tool in DB2 which can be used for this?. Can we have a standby database setup and use remote journaling for updating the database.

Thanks

Dev

Hi Sukhdev,

yes, we do have a few clients, that are using remote journaling without professional third party tools - just a few CL scripts from us in order to get the DB up to date. This runs pretty stable and is really something, that you might consider in a "tight money situation" ...

How would you compare this solution to iASP? (independent auxiliary storage pools).

Thanks

Hi Matt,

Hard to say ... There are some pros and cons ... I would say, if this is really setup properly, it would be similar to iASP ...
