ESR without SAP PI

Hi experts,

I have a few questions:

Is it possible to have an ESR without SAP PI?

If it's possible to have an ESR in a SAP Netweaver machine without SAP PI, could i develop services in there?

Is it possible to develop in .net? is it neccesary the portal?

Yes. It is possible to have NW CE installed that comes with an ESR and it does not have PI. ESR alone, i think it is not possible.

SAP PI core component is ESR, May I know your requirement please ?

Vila,

  We can now create the datatypes, mesagetypes and Service interface in the Netweaver Developer studio, where as earlier we use to create those objects in ESR in PI, but Netweaver developer studio we can create those objects.
