High CPU-consumption for SMD process jstart.exe

Former Member

Hello!

We have detected that the SMD agent on the Solution Manager server needs a lot of CPU consumption.

The appropriate process is jstart.exe.

Is there any workaround to solve this problem?

Thank you!

Hello!

Many thanks.

It seems that the high CPU consumption is caused by SAP Host agent.

We use the newest SAP Host Agent version 102.

Is there any problems with that?

Hi Alex,

I have just updated to SOLMANDIAG 710 SP04 Patch 3 and after the agents were deployed I am having the same problem on all of the JAVA stack managed systems.  The CPU is being used up by both the SMD agent and the SAP HostAgent. I am running HostAgent patch number 95 on all the JAVA Systems.  Have you found a solution yet?

Hello!

no, the problem with high CPU still exists.  I use the up-to-date HostAgent (verison 102) and also updated SOLMANDIAG to Patch 3.

Perhaps is the problem this SOLMANDIAG version...

Hi Alex,

You may want to try note 1712067, and use the url inside it to download a updated version of the SMD agent 710 Patch 3.

Hello!

Yesterday I updated the LM-SERVICE from this sap note.

Today I get 100 % CPU again....

Hi Alex,

This is still a problem for us.  It looks like a patch for the issue has been released for the SOLMANDIAG 710SP 04 version (patch 4) and the SP05 version (patch 1).  I haven't tried it yet but it should hopefully fix the issue from what I've been told from SAP.

Hi,

how did you proceed with post actions?

I patched LM-Service to sp5.1 and deactivated maintenance mode but

Where is the Java Upgrader hidden within SolMan 7.1?

This is located in Basic configuration step 2.5.

Hi Alex,

have you solved the issue with high cpu consumption of sap hostagent?

We have exactly the same problem on AIX with SAP Host Agent 7.20_EXT Patch 152.

Thanks for you input

Hello Christoph,

try to reinstall your Diagnostics agent to the last available patvh. Also the LM-SERVICE on Solman Java stack should have the last available subcomponent.

Hello christoph ,

My observation , high CPU consumption happens because of updating saphostagent without clearing the processes. SO , Please stop the host agent. Uninstall it and do a fresh installation.

saphostexec -stop

saphostexec -uninstall

Before installing the agent even stop  DAA agent

saphostexec -install

Restart your DAA agent.

Regards
