Client Copy Strategy in Solution Manager 7.1

Dear All,

I have installed Solution Manager 7.1 .

There is no mentioning about Client Copy in Installation Guide.

Is Client Copy not more required?

1)If no,

a)Which Client should be used?

b)If some wrong configuartion takes place in the productive client, then what would be the backup strategy

of the client.

2)If Yes

a) What would be the souuce client and the associated profile needed to be copied?

Sincere Regards

Asad Momin

Thank you Jansi.

I read the activity documentation and it's very useful.

"

Use the following parameters:

  • Source: Client 000
  • Source User: Client 001
  • Target: Your new client
  • Profile : SAP_UCSV"

Mauricio

Hello,

You can either use client 001 as your productive client or copy client 000 to another client.  Please note that contrary to the recommendations above you should copy from client 000 using profile SAP_CUST and not client 001 as per note 550894 "Always use client 000 as a template, and never client 001. (Older  SAP Solution Manager releases prior to Release ST 4.0 constitute a known exception to this.)".

As pointed out about the SAP Solution Manager users are populated in client 001 so you may specify the source for the users as client 001 in your client copy.  In addition as this is a dual stack system and the ume of the Java stack is pointed to the ABAP system you need to change the client from 001 to your new client in the visual administrator for older releases or in the new for more recent releases.

Hi Asad,

I would suggest, Copy your 001 client to a new Productive client ( May be 100) with profile SAP_ALL.

Then start your SOLMAN_SETUP.

Thanks,

Jagadish.

Hi Asad,

Jagadish is right. Source for client copy would be 001 as it is the UME for java stack. During installation, all java related users (j2ee_admin, guest, SLD*) is created on 001.

Cheers,

Nicholas Chang
