Populate category taxonomy table using assignments

Dear Experts,

I have came acorss that Assignments will not work for Look up taxonomy tables dynamically.

If its not true then kindly suggest me about creating Assignments for the following scenario.

We have "Product Groups" table of type with Look up Flat. It has two fileds

1. Material Group Description ---Text--Display Field

2. Material Group Code-----------Text

And I need to populate the "Material Group Description " records to the table "Categories " which is of Lookup taxonomy.

The filed name is "Category Name"---Text---Display field.

In general I need to populate Material Group Description values to Category Name which is of present in Main table "Catalog item.

Looking for the valuable feedback.

I aware about writing lengthy assignment logic, but am looking for one line assignment code.
