Hi Guru's,

Would like to seek for your advise on the error which we have encountered for password self service in GRC 5.3.

After submit the request in GRC 5.3 for password self service, an email successfuly sent to the user's inbox.

However, when the user try to reset the password in SAP child system by using the password provided by GRC in email, he encountered this error : "Name or password is incorrect (repeat logon)"

Can you please advise what is missing here that cause this error.

p/s: we are in GRC 5.3 and support pack level is 17.

Hope to hear from you all soon.

Thank you.

Merdelyn

Hi Merdelyn,

Check the SAP note: 1650604 - Generated passwords with special characters do not work

Are you using 40 Character generated passwords ? I have seen problems with generating 40 Character passwords. You may want to make the generated password to 8-10 character length.  Also if you are using CUA there are many SAP notes with CUA child systems password issues, you can look into them and see if they are applicable.

Hi Ajesh,

Thanks for your reply.

We are using 6 character genetrated passwords. is this fine?

and also, we have changed the scum setting for logon data in CUA to everywhere since we are using CUA. By referrign to SAP note: 1591209, it stated scum setting have to change to either "local" or "proposal". Kindly advise if this may be the root cause or if there any config missing..

Thank you.

Hi Merdelyn,

Using 6 Character Generated password is fine. Seems this is a password generation problem. Its quite diffucult to point a SAP note that will solve your problem with out looking at the system. I suggest you open a message as the generated 6 character password should work and you are already in SP17 ( which is good). SAP will be able find the exact root-cause and suggest you the right note to be implemented in the backend system.

We had different problems with the password self-service and are advised to move to SP17, which we are doing now.

You can keep the thread open, if someone has seen or had the same problem they will reply. Once you have the solution, you can update it here that will help others.

Regards,

Ajesh.
