WAS 640 ABAP dispatcher and workprocess donu00B4t start

Hello,

after installing the central and database instance of Web Application Server 640 i cannot start the system with the SAP MMC console.

while the message_server and the igs_wd are running

the dispatcher and workprocess don´t start.

following the dev trace file i get this error message:

OK,

am i wrong or could be a problem with the listener or with the dns entries? it is a demo system, where the host is also a dns server.

where can i find this trace file?

Probably your datebase is full (file space).

Run DATEBASE MENAGER, connect to NSP and check it. If Yes - click to Data Area in Information and add set properities on DATA0002. Set new Size and confirm.

Should be working.

As simple as it sounds, you may want to try a reboot of the physical machine and not just restarting the sap system. I was facing a similar problem where the disp+work process was crashing on start-up after I had made a parameter change. Finally, we rebooted the physical server and the problem went away.

On our SRM 4.0 (WebAS 6.40) we have a similar problem where we made some parameter change (em/global_area_MB) & the disp+work.exe was not coming up.

We have tried rebooting the machine a couple of times but it does not help. (I have not tried a hard boot - power-off / on). Does it requirea hard boot?

Would appreciate any help.

In our situation, a hard re-boot worked. Fortunately, it was a lab system, so we didn't have to schedule the shut down with users etc. I don't know if this scenario actually requires a hard re-boot.

AT LAST,

i solved the problem.

i searched in the oss for

"ORA-12541: TNS:no listener"

and found the OSS NOTE 609332.

the reason was that the TNS Listener Service wasn´t started.

so i suggest, that you adjust the starting options for this listener service to "automatically".

ah i forgot,

i also adapted my hosts file.

just insert your hostsname there after your ip adress - without the domain name!

well, but i think this wasn´t really the decisive action, because the dns server had the adress, the start of the message server worked properly and so on. have a lot of fun!
