What would cause a material on a sales order to not show a confirm qty date, when product is available?

What would cause a material on a sales order to not show a confirm qty date, when product is available?  We have a material that has an available qty at the plant but the schedule line is not giving a current or future confirmation date.  Need to know what are the possible causes of this result in the schedule line.  Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Need to know what are the possible causes

1. Credit Management is activated
2. Safety Stock is maintained for that material in material master
3. Open Deliveries would be generated (Delivery created and saved but not PGId).  Check in MD04 where system will show all SD document references

Hi glenn,,

Please check whether any back orders lies in the system with Tcode V_RE. And you can see the material available over view in Tcode CO09.A and check the safety stoke in material master- MRP 2 view.

Might be for the material is locked for availability,because if two persons are trying to create sale order for same material,same time there is possibility for mentioned situation.
