Hi,

We are planning to upgrade SAP SRM 7.0 on our demo server to latest versions. Is the use of solution manager mandatory for this kind of upgrade. Let me know if this can be done without solution manager.

Appreciate a quick response.

Regards,

Deeraj Shetty

Hi,

No. Solution Manager is not mandatory. You can work without it.

Hi Deeraj Shetty,

It is not mandatory. How ever, SAP strongly recommends using SAP Solution Manager to identify & implement the required support packages.
The Solution Manager - Maintenance Optimizer provides you with the option to automatically calculate the recommended support packages levels and add them to your download basket.
It provides you with a combined import queue that includes the enhancement package support packages as well as the required SAP SRM support package stack components.

Hi Deeraj,

No, we can’t Upgrade SRM 7.0 to latest version without using solution Manager.

There are two ways to use Solman:

1)Maintenance Optimizer (for short, MOPZ) is a part of Solution Manager. It is intended to help in Enhancement Package (EHP) installations, upgrades and Support Package Stack updates. Maintenance Optimizer keeps track of your upgrades/updates/enhancement package installs with CRM-based documents, calculates and downloads the files needed, and generates an XML with the package queue for EHPI or SPAM.

2) Add packages to download basket on SAP Support Market Place. Login to Solution manager for approval, unless you approve the patches you are not able to download it.

Hoping this info is valuable.

Thanks.
