1.Create MIC's in QS21

2.Create Material specification in QS61 ,assign MIC's in Material specs.

3.In Material Master active QM view -->inspection type-->material specs

You can use material specs along with Task list a well.

4.Create Inspection lot & Material specs will get asssign to the Inspection lot as a Inspection plan.

5.Do RR, & take UD.

Its simple Nitin:

When you know that there are specific MIC's  that are applicable to  material , "Independent of plant " or

let me put in another way say there is a material with certain MIC's is common to 4-5 plants and it will have same inspection parameters in all plants.

Then you can create material specificaiton for this material.

But for same material ,as plant varies if your specificaiton also vary ,then better to create it as plant specific task list.

I hope I have addded some value.

Thanks Sujit,

That was very valuable. I need to know few more things. Do I need to use task list over specifications if Sampling and QM costing is invloved in the business?

If these factors are not into the picture, I can carry out the inspection with material specification.

Am I right ??

If you want to use sample drawing procedures or do costing you have to use inspection plans with your material specs.

If you can define sampling procedures in several other places other than an inspection plan if you want to use sampling procedures with your material specs.  But for maximum flexibility, you need to use inspection plans as well.

None out there that I'm aware of.

But in a nutshell, you tick on inspect with material spec in the inspection type setup.

You create your MIC's and possibly, if using batch management create general characteristics and link them.

Maintain the material spec in QS61.

Create inspection lot.

You should be able to find some good online help and discussion threads on this.

I looked at the link.  Maybe I missed it but I didn't see a "b" or "c".
