Hi Forum,
As I´m new in the world of Solution Manager,
I would like to get your opinion about the following aspect:
- Does it make sense to start using the Solution Manager with Roadmaps and BPR to support an SAP-BPS/IP implementation project reffering to new Enterprise SOA strategy? What will be the future of BPR ? Will there be a Process Content integration inbetween Visual-Composer and BPR and Solution Manager?
Perhaps there are other relevant aspects or tools in that field. Please note them.
Looking forward to your answers and opinions.
Thanks and regards,
Jens
Hi Jens,
as I understand it Visual-Composer is a UI-builder based on Enterprise Services shipped in the Enterprise SOA Repository (or however this is called meanwhile) which is the successor of BOR (Business Object Repository). BPR is the successor of the SAP Reference Model and contains Scenarios, Processes and Process Steps. Both BOR and the SAP Reference Model exist as of R/3 Release 3.0(!) in peaceful coexistence. There were attempts to join or link these two different repositories but they were not successful. I wonder if this will ever happen. My impression is that we got more ways of handling process models instead of less. Nevertheless I doubt that SAP will stop maintaining BPR without a migration path. Even for the offline ASAP-models there was a migration path to SAP Solution Manager. But today I see noone who says we don't need BPR anymore or we have any substitute for it. I still believe it would be nice to have hooks for SOA services in BPR.
Regards
Andreas

Hi Andreas,
thanks for posting your opinion to the topic. What I´m looking for, is the right link to support a process driven SAP-implementation process. The question is, which is the right tool or repository to collect implementation know-how and information about SAP-defined or in anterior projects defined individual business processes and the enabling systems, transactions, services ...
There is such functionality in SAP Solution Manager.
Are there other products, repositories I have to look on, or do you think Solution Manager is the organisational SAP-governance plattform to link implementation methodology, business processes, configuration and functionality?
I´m not believing in anything in that question! I´m only looking forward to your individual opinions about that issue to form a view on it.
Thank you all!
Jens
