Hi pv s,

Fixed bins are usually used for picking. When a fixed bin is defined for a material and the putaway / stock removal strategy for that storage type is 'F' i.e Fixed bin strategy then the system directs the material to that fixed bin and also allows picking from this fixed bin.

Fixed bins are also used for replenishments where the material is replenished from a bulk storage to a Fixed bin to allow sufficient stock for picking. Fixed bins are usually located near the shipping dock so the product can be picked quickly and shipped.

You cannot define a fixed bin in the bin master but a bin can be assigned as a fixed bin to a material in WM2 view of the material master for a warehouse and storage type combination. Fixed bin can also be assigned to a material in Plant date/ Stor. 1 view of Material Master if there is no WM active but this performs only limited functionality.

Hope it helps.

Many thanks for the detailed explanation.

1. I hope the 'storage bin' field under storage bin stock section in WM2 view is where we define the fixed bin, isnt it?

2. Can we create bins for interim storage types?

Please advice.

1. Yes, that is the place where we define the fixed bin for a material. One storage type can have only one fixed bin but a material can have multiple fixed bins in different storage types.

2. We can create bins manually for interim storage types based on the requirement. For example we had to create a bin "SCRAP" in 999 stroage type to direct some difference stocks which were confirmed with a particular difference indicator as per client requirement.

Hi,

There are many ways to create Fixed Bins.

BIN creation for Interim storage type generally done by LX20.

For others you may use LS01N , any simple LSMW , LS10 for creation of BINS.

LS01N will allow to create BIN one by one where as LSMW / LS10 used for mass creation.

Thanks,
