Not able to start SMD Agent

Hi all,  I have tried to restart the SMD agent but always hit into this error:

ERROR => Can't open property file [/usr/sap/SMD/Jxx/j2ee/cluster/instance.properties] [jstartxx_mt. 725]

ERROR => Can't attach to administration shared memory (rc = 1) [jcmonxx_mt.c 228]

ERROR => Can't attach to administration shared memory (rc = 1) [jcmonxx_mt.c 228]

Do you think I need to restart the whole system to clear all the shared memory in order to fix it? Any other workaround?  Thanks.

Attempted to remove shared memory incurred by user smdadm  (ipcrm), but still..

Hi,

I reckon you are on Unix platform. What about using showipc NN (your smd instance number).

after that stop your smd agent. as SMDadm - Run cleanipc NN remove

Start your smd agent and see how it goes.

If above doesn't work, try uninstall SMDagent and reinstall.

Cheers,

Hi,

you are getting error as shmget, means your shared memory occupied still. It is not necessary your shared memory occupied only with your smd instance, it may be your sap system running on the same host occupying the shared memory.

better stop the sap system also and run the IPC clean again or reboot the server.

This too fix your issue, Please try .

Thanks
