Unable to Transport Join condition of Import map during Schema transport

Former Member

Hi,

I am facing one problem during schema transport of map. Scenario is as follows:

In excel file, we have four sheets say sheet1(main), sheet2, sheet3, sheet4.

Each sheet contains field named Field1.

So i want to import all the data in the excel file in one go.

So in the import map, i have linked all the sheets using Join condition on Filed1.

Then using 'Lookup all' i mapped all the required fields and saved map.

It is working absolutely fine in development system.

But when i try to transport this map using Schema transport from dev to test system, Join condition is not getting transported and hence linking of sheets is getting lost. Can anyone please suggest what could be the problem and how to resolve the same?

Thank you.

Hello Ankush,

1. Can you mention the fields in each excel sheet, so that i can explain you better?

2. Also did you try exporting the Map with extension .map as shown below.

Hi All,

Sorry for not updating the thread for long time.

I had raised an OSS with SAP and they have identified it as a Bug in SAP MDM 7.1 SP07.

They have provided a fix to this issue in SAP Note 1722100.

Also they will fix this issue permanently in SP09.

I am closing this thread now. Thanks to all of you for their guidance.

Hi Ankush,

May be your map is too bulky and operation is not getting fully completed.

As suggested manual map export/import workaround can serve your purpose here.

Hi Ravi/Tarun,

I had already tried doing this thing but still join condition is not getting transferred.

I don't know the reason. Can you guys please suggest something else?

Thank you.

Hi Ankush,

First of all do a SAVE UPDATE.

Also to be on safer side verify the repository.

Now please do a test, export map to local system and import the same map naming it as TEST(say).

Test the map if there is any difference or mapping loss as compared to the previous map.

If the join condition is lost then there lies the issue.

And if join condition is present then possibly Import of map in other environment is not seamless(xml file of map is not rightly trasferred)

Please let me know your findings.

Thanks,

Ravi

Hi Ravi,

I tried importing the map in same environment. But even there, join condition is not getting imported.

So i think there is some issue in exporting the join condition in XML.

What could be done to solve the issue? Thank you.

Hi Ankush,

I tested this scenario and found that on import of map Joins are missing.

I feel it is not the export of map but import of map that is the issue here.

Kindly raise an message with SAP for its solution/clarification.

Thanks,

Ravi

Hi Ankush,

Thanks to Prasad for the idea,I tried exporting the map using .map extension and reimported it in Import Manager. This time I did not lose Joined relationship.

So we can sum it as:

  • If you export in .xml format, maps are losing Join relationships
  • Whereas if I export".map" format it does not lose this relation. This can serve as a workaround for you to move maps from DEV to TEST.

However it would be good to hear from SAP on this deviation of behavior.

Thanks,

Ravi

Hi Ravi/Prasad,

Thanks for your observations. I will check this at my end and will let you know soon.

I have raised OSS as well and now awaiting response from SAP.

Thank you.

Ankush,

As a workaround, you can manually export your import map from Dev environment and import the same map in Test everironment.

Dear Ankush

I hope you are not joining any qualifier fields, as these fields data will not be reflected or shown in data manager.
