MDM SP8 problem

Dear MDM experts

Could you please advice with one problem I have.

Right now we are on the server 7.1 SP6 but we are upgrading to new server - we are installing new Windows + SAP MDM SP8 from beginning. On the new server after archieve/unarchieve repository, I do not have Inbound/Otbount folders. Repository are updated, repaired, and loaded. Everything is working fine except I do not have folders structure. Do you know what can be the reason for that ?

Rafal,

Please restart the DBMS/MDM/Repositories in the following sequence:

1. Stop Repository

2. Stop MDM Server

3. Stop DBMS Server

4. Start DBMS Server

5. Start MDM Server

6. Conect to the repository, Repair and then Start.

I faced the same problem and got it resolved by following same procedure. Hope it helps you too.!!

Thx/ -Tarun

Hi Nitish,

When ever we mount the repository, MDM server should create folders automatically.

In your case those folders are not created after SP upgrage.

Could you recheck the distribution folder path from MDS.ini to make sure you are verifies in correct path.

If every thing is fine, Could you check the Repository reports. It will describes for any problems ie. authorizations or Space problems.

Thanks

Hi

There is a small problem which I am a bit confused. We restored at that same time 4 repositories from archieve. 3 of them are missing folder structure but 1 have it perfectly fine.

I do not understand how that is possible?

We did not stop/start server after any of restore.

Hi Rafal,

Check if some remote systems ports are created for the 3 reposittory agains the one working fine.

Anyways MDM remote system will always be there by default.

Verify and repair the repository again before archiving .

unarchive the repository again and load with update indices for the first time .

Rafal,

Could you answer the following questions:

  1. Are you able to connect with your 3 repositories?
  2. Did you perform the steps, which I mentioned in my first reply?

Hi Tarun

We unarchiever repositories last week. Since that time I did not do anything like that.

I can not perform your steps as I need our SAP Basis dep to stop / start mentioned by you services. We do not have access to them.

I can connect to all repositories and all works fine. I did not check only auto syndication as folders are missing. Manual syndication also works fine.

Rafal,

Would it be possible for you to perform following steps?

  1. Stop repository
  2. Repair
  3. Start repository with Udate Indices

If above steps does not work, then try the following steps:

  1. Connect with repository and Stop it
  2. Create a Dummy Outbound port
  3. Start Repository with Update Indices

And then check, if the port is created. Hope, it may resolve your problem.

Hi Tarun

I just tried the steps, but they do not helped. I do not see any new folders for repository for example Customer.

Do you have any new ideas ? If not I will try with stop MDIS services.

Hi,

Did you check for the Port folders in the below path on MDS

Distribution Root Dir : C\Program Files\SAP MDM 7.1\Server\Distributions\

Hello,

Check the MDIS.ini file for the distribution folder property and the path that it has been set to.

If its other than the required path, change it and to the required path, and restart the MDM server as mentioned in the above post.

First make sure you make a local copy of the ini file, and make the changes in the local, then overrite the original with the local ini file, and then restart the MDM Server.

Stop the repository.

Stop the MDM Servers (MDIS, MDSS, MDMS)

Stop the Db Server.

Start the DB server

Start the MDM Servers

Connect the repositories
