what is the cluster node with respect of communication channels in sap pi?

Hi,

Web AS Java systems consist of one or more instances and each instance is installed on a separate host. An instance itself consists of cluster nodes that can communicate with each other.

In PI, those cluster nodes will be allocated to the communication channels for message polling/processing.

You can already tell the status of the communication channels from the result of the self-test of the selected Adapter Engine.If the Adapter Engine runs on a server cluster, the communication channels comprise multiple instances for the various cluster nodes.

adapters are designed to pin each communication channel to a cluster node. Processing for that channel happens exclusively on this cluster node and will only switch to a different node in case the cluster node fails or the channel configuration is changed in Integration Builder. As the processing history is however kept on each cluster node separately, old entries will not be evicted on that node if successful processing resumes on a different node.
