Need to have the catalog Maintenance Transaction QS41 / QS51

Hi

Catalog creation and Selected Set creation transaction is available in both easy access screen and in the Configuration. Quality Master data governance Team, wants to maintain the catalogs in the production system without having the transport moved.

When we requested to open the QS41 / QS51 Catalog creation and Selected Set creation with the Basis team, since it is a client level setting It cannot be modified unless you are opening up the client. Opening up the client is not advisable since all the other functional teams can carry out the changes

Is there any other way we can handle this? How this is practiced in other places? Please advice.

Regards

Raja

Dear Raja

Please go through the SAP note 736920, that will help for your requirement

Note 736920 as specified by Madhankumar above is correct but it only addresses the selected sets.

You'll also need to look at note 376134 to be able to treat the catalogs and codes as master data.

Dear FF

736920 will solve both Catalog and Selected Set issues

You are correct Madhankumar.

I had three notes downloaded related to the catalogs/selected sets and making them master data or not.

376134 - Catalog maintenacne: error mssg TK430 (client not modifiable)

381286 - Code grps + selected sets: Transport request requestd

736920 - Maintainance of selected sets requires transport request

It appears that 376134 and 736920 are identical notes.  They both modify the same objects.

The text in 736920  says "You want to maintain selected sets in the production system."  It makes no mention of catalogs while 376134 mention catalogs but no mention of selected sets.

But the solution for each is the same.

I have seen those possibilities at companies:

  • Maintenance via customizing in development system, with transports afterwards
  • Maintenance in a master data system/client, with ALE/IDOC distribution afterwards

Both will work, it just depends on your processes and your organization.
