Difference between Maintenance work center and work center in Iw31?

can anybody explain what is the difference between maintenance work center and work center in IW31 with an example?

Hello,

Main work center is the work center responsible for the maintenance order.This is the work center assigned to the technical object(Equipment or functional location) on which maintenance order has been created.

Another work centers in IW31 which are assigned in the tab operation are the work centers responsible for execution of that particular operation.By default system will assign main work center in operation which user can change manually depending on the operation.

Hi Pradeep,

                  If you say the maintenance Work Center then it is mainly used by the Maintenance persons, based on which you can have different reports or Searchec available, It depends on your client as on which level does he wants to have the Main Work Center Defined. but the Important Thing is that you can not have the Authorization Controll over the Main Work Center.

Where as the Work Center is the field used by the Production Person. if they are also defining the Work Centers. in that case if you maintain the Work Center for PP and you have a Maintenance order open for the given Main Work Center, The system will not allow you to create any Production Order for the same work Center.
