SAP GUI 7.20 issue with Microsoft word values not updating in DMS

Hi,

We have recently upgraded to ERP 6.0 from SAP 4.7 version. We have DMS installed in our system and all the Microsoft Word files attached to the Documents in DMS are working fine in SAP 4.7, when ever any values are changed for any DMS document, those values were updated into the Word files attached to that Document. Usually the word file will be stored in User's temp folder who is currently processing that Document in CV02N transaction.

After the upgrade we are using SAP GUI 7.20 patch level 8, since then when ever we change any values in CV02N transaction, those values are not getting updated to the word files attached to the Document, we feel that it might be the additional security checks added in SAP GUI 7.20 might be preventing the updation of values in the local folder, we thought it would be fixed with the latest patch level release 11, but we are still facing the same issue even with SAP GUI 7.20 patch level 11.

      For testing

We created a Document in CV01N and attached a word document in SAP 4.7 DEV system with SAP GUI 7.10 installed, here every thing is working fine.

We logged to ERP 6.0 system with SAP GUI 7.10, and created a Document in CV01N with word attachment, here also it is working fine.

We logged to ERP 6.0 system with SAP GUI 7.20 patch level 8 & 10 & 11 and created a Document with word attachment, here the values are not getting updated, only the template values are shown.

Does any one facing the same problem? any setting need to be done at registry level for SAP GUI 7.20, which will allow the write authorization to the local temp folder?

Thanks & Regards

Bala Krishna

Hello Bala,

Does the issue occur with the security settings deactivated in the 7.20 GUI?
Can you capture an office integration trace as per note below

Hi Jude,

Thanks for your reply, i have already checked that note and did a trace as the mentioned in that. We are using Word 97 - 2003 for the templates, i think that this might be the issue with SAP GUI 7.20 patch 4 and above. I tried to changed the Template to Word 2007 format in debugger and uploaded into DMS, this seems to be working when the Template is of 2007 and above but in DMS the document extension can only be 3 chanracters, so we cannot save .docx files, even if we save the docx file template, it stores it as .doc.

You have mentioned deactivating security settings, how can we do that?

Thanks & Regards

Bala Krishna

Hello Bala,

To deactivate the security settings (just as a troubleshooting procedure) use ALT+F12 key

combination => Security => Security Settings:

Set 'Default Action' to 'Allow' and 'Status' to 'Disabled'

If the issue still occurs, set back to the previous settings again.

You may need to raise a message in the component CA-DMS to resolve this issue.

If you are using Office 2010, please ensure you are using 32-bit version only.

Hi,

Will try out with security settings, we will be raising it SAP regarding this. We are using office 2007.

Till that time will be working with BADI DOCUMENT_STORAGE01 to check the file extension.

thanks & regards
