Hello All,
we are in a process of upgrading our SAP Sandbox system from EHP3 (SP08) to EHP5.
we are on Linux (x86_64) with database MaxDB (7.6.03.009)
is this version require to upgrade my instance to EHP5, or with system upgrade do i also need to upgrade my DATABASE.
if database upgrade is require can any one please let me know how to upgrade database on our environment.
Thanks in Advance,
Vardhan.
Hi,
Yes, you are required to upgrade your database also. Please check service.sap.com/pam -> EHP5 FOR SAP ERP 6.0 -> Database Platforms -> MaxDB. What version you can require is dependant on your Linux distribution.
Also check service.sap.com/instguides -> Database Upgrades -> MaxDB for information on upgrading.

Someone else may need to help here but I would check the permissions on the following files:
/etc/opt/sdb
/var/lib/sdb and sub directories
It may be that because the permissions were not correct when you ran the install the first time that it has either set or copied the incorrect permissions on the above locations. That is my educated guess from MaxDB installations, failing which hopefully someone else may help you.
Nelis
It is not mandatory no, just good practice and could prevent other issues during the upgrade that may be related to the database. I certainly would prefer having "peace of mind" knowing my database is up-to-date before starting a major upgrade. You should also check your parameters too after a database upgrade using the dbanalyzer(check note 1111426) before proceeding.
Good luck!
Nelis
