ESS - Error Messages Appearing In German

Hi there,

I am still relatively new to Basis and I hope I am posting in the correct forum.

Our DEV ESS Portal system is displaying error messages in German. I have searched

the internet and someone suggested editing the file:

prtDefault.properties     in /usr/sap/SID/JC10/j2ee/cluser/server0/apps/sap.com/irj/servlet_jsp/irj/root/WEB-INF/portal/system/properties

I have added:

request.mandatorylanaguage=en

request.mandatorycountry=us

However, the messages are still apprearing in German.

Anybody, any ideas??

Have to taken restart of the cluster after modifying the properties file ?

Thanks for replying. Yes I restarted the system but the merror messages still displayed

in German

Hi Andy,

Make sure User's language is EN in his settings.

One more reason could be "As the account assignment is checked via an RFC Call to ECC (the UME), check what is the language of RFC user while the  call is made to ECC for account assignment check".

Hi Andy,

Pls provide more information about error.

When did error occures? and paste it here to analyze further.

There are many notes available for language issues on portal.
