Need examples and clarification on Multi Resource in PPDS

Hi All,

Could somebody please give me more insignts into what resources could be called Multi Resources in PPDS? I am aware of some basic types of Multi Resources like:

1. workecenter having more than 1 milling machines will be a multi resource in PPDS etc

But will a furnace with a given volume be a single resource or multi resource. The SCM with APO book by Jörg Thomas Dickersbach mentions this as multi resource as it has a second capacity dimension of volume (so many different products can be processed at one time). But I was not able to understand this example completely. What would be the 1st capacity dimension? Operation time per day? This resource is performing only 1 activity of heating so how would it still be called multi resource.

Any pointers on this will be of great assistance.
