Hi,
I was wondering whether SCM4.1 is able to support LiveCache 7.6?
We are in the process of upgrading SCM4.1 to SCM5.0. Our landscape has the DEV and QAS livecaches on the same server, sharing the same executables (/sapdb/programs/bin etc). The SCM upgrade would prompt us to upgrade livecache to 7.6. Because the sapdb executables are shared, I am guessing that both livecaches will be upgraded at the same time, which means that one system (QAS) will be running SCM4.1 and Livecache 7.6.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards, Chris Low.
Hello Chris,
1)The database installation distinguishes between different software directories. Please
see the information at
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/23/d1a03cc24efd1de10000000a114084/frameset.htm
The database software independent of the database system version installed
in the directory /sapdb/programs ( by default). These programs are installed
once for each machine. In the directory /sapdb/programs and its subdirectories,
you will always find the programs for the most recently installed version of the
database software. The independent database software is downward compatible.
Libraries for the client runtime environment are also installed once or each computer, however,
you must have the option of storing them in different ersions.
-> Please run 'sdbregview -l' command to get the list of all installed
database packages < sdbregview is located in /sapdb/programs/bin >.
-> You could run the two different versions of the liveCache instances
on one server.
Please run 'dbmcli -s db_enum' & review the results.
You should have two database instances <DB1>, <DB2> based on the installations
in /sapdb/<DB1>/db & /sapdb/<DB2>/db
This installation structure is supported by the database installation
< Please see the SAP note 327578. >
The database software that is dependent on the version of the database
<SID> is installed in /sapdb/<SID>/db. This path must be unique, you
should not create any links after installation like
'/sapdb/<DB1>/db -> /sapdb/<DB2>/db', then different directories with
different versions can exist alongside each other on the server.
2)Please see the matrix 'Matrix of released LCA builds for SAP <.>' located at
service.sap.com/liveCache -> Release Information -> SAP LC/LCAPPS 5.0 < or SCM 4.1 >
Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

Chris,
LC 7.6 I think is not compatible with SCM 4.1. You can go upto LC 7.4.3 (build 38 or above).
Rgds,
Sarah.
