EORI (Economic Operators Registration and Identification)

The company I work for needs to implement EORI. In searching SAP, I do not see much discussion on this topic.

We do not have GTS installed so that is not an option for us.  I have seen one suggestion to use the ILN (location numbers) for this purpose.  In reading about EORI, it seems that it can be up to 17 characters in total.  The ILN number fields go up to 13 characters total. 

I would like to know how other companies in Europe have implemented EORI.  Is there a standard solution SAP suggests for those companies without GTS or have you built something custom?

Assuming you have already tried Google, I think your SAP Sales Representative would be the best resource to answer this.
