sapserver.cmd not opening

Dear All,

Problem Summary:

Trying to install Oracle 10.2.0.1.0 /11g .

In both the case I am not able to open the command prompt

either by double-click the sapserver.cmd or Run as Adminstrator or running from command prompt.

For 11g even run as power script adminstrator is also not working.

Details of System and Media Used

OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 Version 6.1

H/W:

Manufacturer : IBM

Model :System x3650 M3

Processor : Intel (R) Xeon (R) 64 - bit processor

Oracle Media Used

51031678   ORACLE RDBMS 10.2 Windows

51038964   ORACLE RDBMS 11.2 Windows x64 64bit

Java version installed : j2sdk1.4.2_18

Path to invoke sapserver.cmd

In 10g

Local Drive:\51031678\NT\AMD64

Local Drive:\51031678\NT\I386

Local Drive:\51031678\NT\IA64

In 11g

Local Drive:\51038964\SAP\

My suspects for the cause of the error:

1)Xeon Processor is not among I386,IA64 and AM64

I guess it falls in x64 .

2) Windows Version 6.1 is not compatible

3) j2sdk version is not compatible.

I may please be guided as my delivery is stuck.

Hello,

Please first try opening a command prompt and executing the

sapserver.cmd from with the command prompt. Hopefully the window will

not dissappear and you will actually get a more descriptive error

message.

Check the name of the  <DIR> with the installation CDs

John Feely

Hi Mr.Jamil,

That for your sincere cooperation.

I have installed Oracle 11.0.1.0.1.0

Now I need to install the patch collection aand then the patch set.

Do I need to Install it through Mopatch or Opatch?

Through SAP note ,I found Mopatch is only for UNIX environment.

A tips on Genereic Patch collection application would be helpful.

There are so many generic patches available in SMP,would the latest patch application suffice all

requirement ya I have  to Install each and every?

Momin

hi Asad,

You need following patch for window 2008 and you will use OPatch for apply.

http://service.sap.com/oracle-download

-> Database Patches -> Oracle -> Oracle 11.2 ->

>            OPatch

> Database RDBMS

MS Windows x64

the sequence of Patch is :

1. apply Opatch

2. Generic Patch with Opatch

3. apply MSWIN-x86-64 patches

Xeon should use AMD64 path.

If installing on server 2008, I'd turn off the User Account Control. This has caused me so many problems during installs.
