Query on usage of Communication user between ECC and Portal

Hello All,

We will have over one hundred thousand users in portal. Howerver, the client has a constraint on licenses on the ECC system and the data needs to be in ECC system.

We are planning to use the communication user to connect portal to ECC system and pulling/updating ECC system will be done by communication user to not to consume the ECC license . We have tried testing concurrently with few users to update the ECC system and the response time is acceptable.

My question is incase we have about 5000-10,000 concurrent connections to ECC, how should we be addressing such high connection volume. There is a possibility to scale our ECC system and we can increase the connection pool for the JCO's in the portal.

Your response would be highly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Vikram

Hi,

If you will use communication user for updating the data in ECC system, it will violate SAP license agreement. Please check with your SAP manager if they allow such configuration.

If you are using ESS/MSS functionality in portal then assign only ESS/MSS role in ECC system then it would not count in ECC users but your ESS/MSS users.

Thanks

Hi Sunny,

We are not using the ESS/MSS business package and any other standard packages from SAP. We will have only custom development both on the ECC and portal. Portal will be interacting with the custom tables through BAPI's.

Kind Regards,
