if you want to know about success rate then every migration is successful if all the guidelines are followed .

If you want to ask which will have more impact on the performance of server OS migration or DB migration?

OS will not effect much in terms of performance if compared to Database.

To calculate the success rate;

  • Monitor the utilization of the old platform
  • calculate the TCO of old platform for 3-5 years
  • Monitor the utilization of the new platform
  • calculate the TCO for new platform for the next 3-5 years

If the TCO-OLD > TCO-NEW, then it is a successfull decision

This is a funny question.... If your success rate is not 100% you are indeed in trouble  :-D.

Either way doing a heterogeneous system copy is no more complicated if you are changing the OS or the DB. In order to ensure quality SAP require that the consultant doing the migration is Certified to sign it off.

What do you mean by more success rate ?

Decision to change OS or DB does not made by success rate of migration. All migrations are successful.

Thanks
